Celebration of the Victory Day

On the 9th of May in Paphos, with the support of the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation, a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War took place.

The event was held at the square in front of the shopping center "Kings Avenue Mall". The Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation, Dr. Georgios Prodromou and Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cyprus Stanislav Osadchiy addressed to the guests of the holiday with emotional speeches.

The program of the concert was extremely rich: the audience saw the bright performances of the Dance-studio "Vera", the Cypriot Russian Association choir of Paphos "Kamerton" led by Anne Ismailova, the Russian ballet Center led by Eugene Karol, emotional act of Evagoras Palikarides gymnastics collective. Music-themed composition dedicated to the war years, had created a real festive atmosphere: "Zhuravli" performed by Elizabeth Akhundova, "Barinya", "Katyusha" and "Plyasovaya" presented by children-spoon players, children from the ballet studio "Maria" performed legendary "Smuglyanka".

The concert was also attended by famous musicians - saxophonist Pavel Molchanov and the best violinist in Cyprus Christos Shahpazidis.

Iconic Russian songs "Valenki" and "Katyusha" were sang by Maria Karikalidu.

The Academy of Martial Arts led by Alexander Kretov and Marios Elia presented their skills. Moreover, the bright performance of the children's center "Five Kingdoms" took everybody’s attention.

The real gift was the appearance and performance of Alexander Morozov, who specially had flown to Cyprus for taking part in the concert. He presented a new song dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory, which was voiced earlier in the day at the great parade in Moscow.

The Victory Day is a holiday that fills our hearts with pride and gratitude. This is a celebration of courage, heroism, bravery and kindness; this holiday gave the future to us, our children and grandchildren.

This bright and merry celebration unites all people regardless nationality, age or political beliefs. This is the day when the word "Victory" has great importance not only for the Russian people, but also for the whole world, for millions of people who say this word with tears in their eyes. This is a common Victory!
